Tokyo, January 9, 2009 -- Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. announced today that it has decided to suspend its factory MotoGP racing activities from 2009 season.

Amid quickly changing business environment, Kawasaki has been promptly taking countermeasures to cope with the situation. As the world economy is not likely to recover in a short period due to the major impact of the financial crisis, Kawasaki decided to suspend its MotoGP racing activities from 2009 season onward and reallocate management resources more efficiently.

Kawasaki will continue racing activities using mass-produced motorcycles as well as supporting general race-oriented customers.
Kawasaki would like to thank all the fans and all those who have forwarded us great help.

Mr.Yoshio Kawamura, the Managing Director of Kawasaki Motors Racing B.V. deeply appreciates the contribution and the dedication brought by staff members of the MotoGP team.

It's a shame, especially for John and Marco.
Don't forget is was a difficult decision for kawasaki because the financial crisis etc. When you don't sell a lot of bikes you can't run a MotoGP team. I think kawasaki is not the only company with this ...... problems (at 2009).
But now I see the World Superbikes as the Number 1 motorsport! It much more exciting anyway... go get a ride there john! I hope to see your magnificent
wheelie again at the superbikes!! Greetings Kawa Janus from the Netherlands

Very dissapointed that this has happened, a contract is a contract at the end of the day. I hope Hopper gets a ride pretty dam quick as he is in his prime.
Riders throughout bike racing should just have to concentrate on their racing and not the stress of having to look for a ride so close to the season start. Any ride in a lesser formula would be a waste of talent in my opinion but on a more selfish note can any of us brits imagine Hopper 21 riding in the british superbike series, Wow think about that then John. Ashleigh and yourself to have a nice season in England with all your families around you. I suggest you contact Paul Denning and get him to run a second bike along side ginters. GSX-R are heading for a winning year.
Good luck with what ever you decide and I will support you no matter what series your racing in. UKSEAN1
