Hopper back for Donington - Race thread
From crash.net John Hopkins promises a return to race action at Donington Park after taking the decision to skip Misano to allow more time for recovery. Having missed eight races due to an injury sustained back at Assen, Hopkins returned to the World Superbike Championship at Misano, but would only ride on the first day before choosing to sit out the races due to a swollen leg. Nonetheless, Hopkins insists he will compete at Donington Park just a week later, stating it was his original aim to be back in action for this event. “I couldn't race in Misano simply because me leg was so swollen. But now I have started to break the scar tissue inside the leg I will keep cycling and working it and hopefully we'll be a lot stronger going into Donington, and make the full weekend there. “That was the ultimate goal anyway, make the full return at Donington.”

    Hey Hopper,

What heart you showed, amazing ride with some sick passes thrown in to boot!!! Very nice ride my friend, so good to see you on 2wheels again putting the hammer down to the boys…. Heal up some more and make good use of those upcoming tests, so we can cheer you on as you battle for the top step the podium! Guess your ride in race one inspired Leon a little in race two. Lol wtg Team Stiggy Honda!
    Rock on,

Nice one rossifumi, totally agree with all about you said, I'm thinking the same way, except that I'm praying for a Yamaha Italia ride next year for John!! I hope he stays in sbk, because this is the place to be and win the championship on a Yamaha!! Roll on Brno!!

i finally had to sign up so i could comment. my little brother and I have been huge fans of yours since 04. it was the lean angles and riding posture that did it. you just looked so agressive and rode the suzuki well over the limits and we loved watching you race. im not going to lie, im a big suzuki fan and it was great the first year of the 800cc that their chassis was immediately competitive. watching you in china i was glad to see you shine like i always figured you could given the bike was up to par. then you left for kawi. i couldnt understand. i cant believe the economy leading to their withdraw from racing, and leaving you without a ride, although im glad you didnt ride the hayate. i was extremely happy to hear you would be racing world superbike as i think you could ride those bikes the way you like. it really sucked when i heard about the crash and the injuries at assen. but i know you will work to get back and your race 1 at donington finally gave me something to cheer for. passing fabrizio like that let me know you are going to fight. im not suprised you couldnt race in 2, and from the way it looked dudes were just loosing the front and crashing out hard. but you have another month and some testing to get on pace, which i know you will. just do me a favor. get up there and battle spies for the last races. i like spies and his abilities are most impressive but its not beyond you. i think how agressive you ride, and your one of the few riders that makes overtakes all throughout lap 1, you will the best rider to challenge him.
if you do make the choice to go back to motogp i hope you get a chance at yamaha or honda, if not, maybe if you and spies go to suzuki, they will fund developement and make a bike that can win which i know they are capable of doing. so anyway, you are our favorite pilot, we always cheer for you, keep the rubber side down, hang way the hell of the thing and win some races. you deserve it.

John was awesome in Race 1. Can't wait to see what he can do after some testing. The commentators said that Hoppers ride was the ride of the race and Johan Stigefelt said that John "really has shown he is a top rider"

Can't wait to see John at 100%. Go Hopper!!!

Hopper gave me a knee slider after the first race at Donington on Sunday. He was in a lot of pain as he got into his motorhome. Get back to 100% soon John, good luck in testing and the Brno round.

Awesome effort Hopper and really good to see you go so well in Race 1. Shame you couldn't make it out for race 2 but it's a very positive step forward and hopefully you'll be nearer fully fit for the next round.

Also great to hear you so positive on the Eurosport commentary. Top man!!

just wanted to let you all know John was in so much pain it was impossible to compete in 2nd race. He couldn't even put his foot up on scooter footpegs after race one.
Gotta tell you though it sure was SWEET to see him smiling when he came into garage after race one. It's been a while since I've seen that.
